Papers, 1865,1872.

Papers, Jan. 1865-Jan. 1869 and Feb. 1872 include: 46 photocopied letters, from the Burton Historical Collection of Detroit Public Library (DPL); a proclamation of the governor to mobilize for war, April 23, 1861; and one original letter, March 18, 1867, signed by Blair. The 46 photocopies include 45 letters to Blair from men in Michigan and other states about politics. One photocopied letter is from Blair to Charles S. May, May 12, 1866. A note from DPL prohibits copying of the copies of their originals. A large number of these letters are referred to in the book "Austin Blair of Michigan: a political biography" by Robert C.
